[操作疑難] need a router replacement suggestion

本帖最後由 AndrewTo 於 2013-11-10 22:19 編輯

I'm thinking to change my NetGear WNR834Bv2
not 100% sure if itz netvigator modem's problem or router, need to do power reset once in a few weeks just to make it function....(problem still exist even from adsl upgraded to optic fibre)
my requirements:
1) very stable
2) durable
2) a bit better signal strength
3) small in size

I do not need fast because 54m speed already much more than I need in all cases.
I hope it can be below $500
---------------
Using 3700v4 for a week, stable and fun to play with the nas function, signal strength is about the same as 834Bv2.

you can't expect that much for below $500

agree, increase your budget..... pay a little bit more for a better performance and stability router.....
I am using Netgear 3700 (V4)

現在都幾難買一個G only router, 而且你都升左行光纖, 買個 N 300 雙或三天線啦.

如果要細, 就好難收得好...

Found that there are brothers would buy from taobao, so I checked that v4 only 438rmb without postage, looks promising! (only the adaptor socket could be really annoying)

n300 looks 90% alike my old 834b, also without antenna, should it have same signal strangth?
my optic fibre running 100m pxxw, I dont BT, stream things or online games, only need it to be really stable with a bit better signal strength~

I dont use IP cam, or online gaming, all other stuffs, I only use for internet (wired for PC and wireless for androids & PS3)
I should really get Netgear 3700 (V4) ?
budget can be $800 or above because I serously need 1) very stable 2) durable

Within your budget I would highly recommend ASUS RT-N12HP.
I have been using it since Jan and it has been rock solid.
No reset, no disconnection and it has a high power antenna which can guarantee a good reception of WiFi signal.

~$300

Btw, with a 54Mbps WiFi you can only max out a transfer rate of around 2MB/s;
even a 300Mbps WiFi won't go beyond 12MB/s. Check if you do need a higher speed.
