[操作疑難] Cat 5 / 6 / 8 question ; wifi speed question

Using HKBN 1000

Just brought a totolink router and found gigalan connection at only 400mb/s, should I change the lan cable? Not sure what cable i am using now as it is provided by HKBN

If changed to a Cat 8 line, will it improve the wifi performance? using AC within 1m to router, my note 3 up 150mb down 50mb ?

You should first bypass your router and test the maximum speed you can get.
A 100 meter Cat5E is good enough to transmit 1000Mb bandwidth in theory

He asks you to bypass your totolink rounter to test whether the issue is cause by the LAN cable, the rounter or HKBN.

If the result of the speed test is the normal speed of 1000Mbps plan
(without the totolink rounter), it can either be the problem of the LAN cable or rounter.

Try to use another LAN cable to connect the HKBN rounter (bypass the totolink rounter), if the result is normal, than it is the problem of the totolink rounter.

How do you connect your computer to the network before you get the totolink rounter?

Directly connect the cable to computer? Or you have another rounter before?
If so, you can try to test with your old rounter.

Btw, a cat5e cable is definitely enough for 1000Mbps, it is not necessary to buy the so called "cat 8"cable.
