1. PC with AC Wireless Card (Intel 8260, Max Speed: 867 mb)
2. PC with N Wireless USB Adapter (Max Speed: 150 mb)
3. iPhone 6
4. iPhone 5s x 2
5. 紅米 x 2
6. iPad Mini 1
8. Notebook with Dual Band N (I seldom use it)

I don't have experiences with other firmware....in fact, today is my first time to flash 3rd party router firmware.....
Did a bit research on the internet and gathered some opinion from chings here.......seems that Asus-Merlin is said to have higher throughput than other firmware, albeit not the most versatile in terms of function. But it got what I need......PPTP VPN.
Ok ... thx a ... do you feel there has a big different between using the stock ...

I bought it during lunch time and flashed Merlin immediately after I hook up and turn on the router.....
I wouldn't worry about the performance of stock firmware as there weren't much complain on the internet (except for R7500, with the problematic Quantenna chip). I've been using WNDR3700 for 5 years and didn't had any problem (except accidental drop-off persisted for a month last year, which I suspected was related to ISP instead of the router itself.) In general, the firmware provided by Netgear is stable for home use IMO. However, it lacks the functionality of VPN (only has openvpn, which is not very useful IMO).
I don't have IT background but like to build my own computer and setup everything myself......I don't think Asus-Merlin is difficult to use. A lot of resources can be found on the internet in case you encounter any problem related to 3rd party firmware.
