New user of Macbook Pro

My friend gave me a old macbook which has  MAC and Parallel. .

Q1. Does  Macbook  need  boot disk or  operation system like Windows  ?

Q2. How can I rest my Macbook to factory setting without removing the software like Mac Office, Safari , etc?

Q3.  Can I reset my Macbook to factory setting without  operating disk  and  password of administrator ?

Many thanks !

Q1 Not sure what do you mean, OSX is the operating system. It has a recovery partition.

Q2. Depends on what you mean by reset. If you want to keep the apps, I suggest you just create a new user and login with that, then all the accounts/data will be personal.

Q3. Press Cmd+R during start up to enter Recovery mode, You can reinstall the OS. Everything (apps, data) will be erased
