I am using it from 9.4 to 10.2 now, very satisfied with Mike's work (the author of ARHD rom).

Is it worth voiding the warranty of the HTC One?

As I believe unlocking boot loader will make the warranty kaput.

I am tempted to give it a try but want to know if the rom really is that great or not.

If I were you, warranty is quite important as you sell your phones in a very short time.

For me, I plan to keep it for a year to a year and a half, so warranty doesn't really matter to me.

So I do not recommend you to unlock unless you plan to keep it for quite some time.
And for myself, definitely no regret doing so. The ARHD rom is so much better than the stock rom and receives way more intensive updates.

It's not so easy to die,  I flash custom roms since Galaxy S, GS II and now HTC One. Ever die for once.
