Based on C-hing recommendation here, I used Macrium Reflect Free to clone my c drive HDD to SSD. There are u tube tutorials to teach u step-by-step how to do it; including how to shrink your partition to fit the smaller SSD, if necessary. The benefits of Macrium Reflect FREE is it will do the Alignment and Enable TRIM. U don't need to do additional steps after cloning.
Follow this approach, I have updated 3 to 4 laptops at work and at home. Except one HP laptop, I need to find a Windows disk to repair the boot sequence from which partition. It was also very handy. There are instructions online on how to do this.
Just trial and error. The only thing u may waste is time.
