Wheel cleaners shootout:

*It is PPLd's Carbon Killer in the Mr. Muscle bottle with foaming spray head in case if anyone of you wonder about this.

Introduction
You know not all wheel cleaners are safe.
You know my cars wheel get crazy dirty quickly.
You know this is the Autoshine wheel cleaner shoot-out.

I live in an apartment and do not have access to hose for washing my car.  All these cleaners are used without a hose.
Cleaning power will be determined.
pH was be determined to see if it match manufacturer's claim.
The forum has spoken:
Chemical Guys Diablo, Sonax Full Effect, Optimum and Meguiar's Blue were tested.

Sample photo from previous work:

Methodology
All wheel cleaners will be reviewed as close to manufacturer instructions in original packaging as possible.
Wheels cleaners will be applied onto cool wheels in original packaging.
Allow to sit for 1-2 minutes.
Agitated used wash mitt by hand unless claimed otherwise.
Clean up the mess.
I repeat: NO hose so excuse if me there are some spots I cannot remove.

Additional Products used:
1. First Choice chenille wash mitt

Environmental Conditions:
33*C / 91.4F
~80% RH
Last wheel clean: My wheels have never been washed since new.  I am so sorry.

Product description (for Chemical Guys Diablo):

Diablo Gel Wheel and Rim Cleaner is the first product that uses concentrated suspension technology to lift brake dust, dirt and contamination away from wheels and rims without hard rubbing and scrubbing which can scratch and damage surfaces ever. Diablo Gel is the only pH neutral wheel cleaner safe enough to use on any and all OEM, after market wheels, painted and powder coated wheels, chrome, carbon fiber lips, decal wrapped wheels and lips and virtually all painted surfaces. Diablo Gel's suspension technology is oxygen-rich infused. Concentrated suspension technology encapsulates dirt particles and rapidly lifts them away from the paint suspending them in a pH neutral slippery gelatin that easily rinses off wheels leaving spot-free results.

Claim (found on CG's website product description):
+ Safe for all wheels
+ Easily and safely lifts brake dust, dirt and contamination
+ No need for rubbing and scrubbing that can scratch and damage surfaces
+ Efficiently looses and lifts contaminants
+ 100% pH balanced and neutral

Details:
1. Packaging: 4oz flip cap bottle, 16oz flip cap bottle or 1 gallon jug.

You dont just buy the liquid inside.  You buy the whole shopping experience, in and out.
Let me show you one funny thing:
My Diablo Wheel, brand new factory sealed in bag:

Cut the bag open reveals this.

Let's check their official web site:
http://www.chemicalguys.com/Diab ... oz_p/cld_997_16.htm

There, you can see the packaging of the product is indeed coming with a black flip cap.
And they stated: "Black Top" in their spec sheet.
Is Diablo meant to be applied like a wax with a foam app, or diluted in wash bucket like a shampoo?
Why they give this cap instead of sprayer?
Why sell a product that is incomplete?

2. Directions:
Dilute Diablo Wheel Gel to desired ratio (3:1 with distilled water is recommended).
Spray Diablo Wheel Gel on wheels, tires, and suspension components
If heavy brake dust removal is required, allow Diablo gel to dwell on wheels for several minutes
For best results, pair up Diablo Gel with the Ultimate Wheel & Rim Detailing Brush, the Chemical Guys Raccoon Brush Wheel Brush, agitate dirt and brake dust
Rinse Diablo Gel from wheels and tires using pressured water or hose
Dry wheels to a perfect finish with a clean Microfiber towel
Apply Chemical Guys Wheel Guard to protect wheels from brake dust

3. Construction: The bottle is typical clear plastic CG bottles with a black flip cap.  The printings are sharp.  Overall this is a good quality bottle.
4. Color: Red
5. Scent: Wrigley's yellow juicy fruit!

6. Price: USD$4.99-59.99
7. Cost: ~$2.5/use
8: Manufacturer: Chemical Guys
9: Made in: USA

Let's test the pH value of this product. It is pH4 at 1:3 to my eyes in real life.
100% pH balanced and neutral?? This is definitely a false claim by CG.

Shake before use.  Squeezed onto wheel.

Wheel Cleaner sitting on wheel without agitation.
As you can see, this product is unable to get the wheel clean without agitation like they claimed.
I do not feel much slickness either.

Pros:
+1 Economical
+2 Pleasant scent

Cons:
-1 Unable to get the wheel clean without agitation as claimed
-2 False claim on 100% pH balanced and neutral
-3 Cleaning power is average
-4 What's wrong with the bottle design?

???:
?1 Slickness is not the best.

For comparison against other wheel cleaners, refer to my original posting.

Conclusion:
Using atomic bomb will leave behind dangerous radiation, as if using a wheel acid can cause damage to your wheel and brake components.  You should always start with the most gentle approach.  Use a safe wheel cleaner and try first before taking out your atomic bomb. ... (adopted)

I thought any and all quality wheel cleaners are able to give you clean wheels when used properly, now with exception from one brand tested here which does not meet its claims.  That brand is not associated with "quality" anyway.  Chemical Guys should stop rebadging the same product with a different color or scent and making false claims if they cant do it.  Besides, that company really thinks a wheel cleaner should come with a black top instead of a sprayer. ... (adopted)
