Linux iPhone USB Internet Tethering (the Ubuntu way)

1. Add this PPA to /etc/apt/sources.list
  1. deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/pmcenery/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
  2. deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/pmcenery/ppa/ubuntu karmic main

2. Add the PPA GPG key
  1. sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys D48B8E25

or you can add the PPA in a single line command
  1. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmcenery

3. Install the packages
  1. sudo aptitude update
  2. sudo aptitude install dkms ipheth libiphone0 usbmuxd

Then, dkms will build and install the ipheth kernel driver module and
you could enjoy the iPhone USB internet tethering.

If you want tethering via bluetooth, use blueman.

Please wait until the error is fixed.

The PPA build is ok now. You may install the driver and utils by
  1. sudo aptitude update
  2. sudo aptitude install dkms ipheth-dkms ipheth-utils libiphone0 usbmuxd
