I did an internship in one of the largest international software companies, and when I came back to HK employers were very interested in it. It matters clearly that opportunity comes to those who are prepared. Imagine when you are an employer and there are a few candidates to pick from, all of them are having a similar academic result but one of them are having 3 months additional experience, what would you do? But since OP is asking for intern and I feel that what I'm saying here doesn't help at all.
