Malata Zpad ( updated Mar. 25, 1366 X 768 TN screen change)

本帖最後由 pcmtse 於 2011-3-25 17:01 編輯

Here must be the very first T2 running at the 1366 X 768 resolution.
This cannot be done without a lots of people's help in our group, including one of the user from this forum helping to make this possible.
Since this is a TN panel, one side still give you the negative film effect.  Luckily, it 's the short side with the home button.
The effect of this panel is not bad at all, under the same level of the brightness, it's brighter than the T8 IPS.

The ROM is at the very early stage, it should be better in performance in the future version.

Notion Ink Eden Ui can run on T2 now....still under testing, will post more picture after it's done.

Latest Video with VPN testing and Quadrant Advance benchmarking

Don't really have time to do a full update, this is the new Quadrant score
QQ1.jpg
2011-1-12 23:26

This is achieved by adding a data2loop device in order to enhance the IO performance.
IO jump from less than 1k to over 5k.

Also, pptp, l2tp, mppe and PPPoe is added to the kernel.  All of them are working fine.

I have this unit for almost three months now, and it's getting better and better with the last few updates.
This can be shown in the drastic improvement in benchmark scoring.
1) Neocore score jump from 27.9 fps about a month ago to 49.6 fps
2) Quadrant Advance score from 1800 at the beginning of Oct. to above 2400.
3) GL benchmark currently is the fastest in the world.

In term of other improvement, the Flash support and experience is almost as if you use it with a desktop machine now with the latest flash APK here, http://www.ez-pad.net/android-1798-1-2.html

Gaming support is getting better also with Tegra optimized game like:
1) Gamloft GT racing HD http://www.ez-pad.net/android-1837-1-1.html
2) Dungeon Defenders http://www.ez-pad.net/android-1827-1-1.html

These really set this platform apart from the rest of the Android pad.
However, if you want a MP4 player, this is not a very good choice at the moment because NV does not really have all the hardware decode driver work out yet, though they will be added in the future.  At this point a Tcc8902 unit will be better for that purpose.

The best thing about this unit is the firmware platform that you can choose from.  With ClockworkMod Support here http://www.ez-pad.net/android-1652-1-2.html , testing different favour of firmware cannot be easier.
Currently, there are at least three different firmware that you can choose from,
1) Standard Malata Zpad firmware, latest version here http://www.ez-pad.net/android-1340-1-1.html
2) XDA Advent Vega ROM here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884103
3) Big_ideas here http://www.ez-pad.net/android-1805-1-1.html
I will give a brief review on each below

1) Malata Standard ROM
This is the standard ROM from the manufacturer.  The UI is a iPAD looks alike and it 's usable.  However, this does not support scrollable widget and does not allow the widget to be resize.
This have the zoom function, it 's not the same as the compatible mode in spare parts but you can get similar function from the screen dpi changer app from market.
This is fairly stable but not the fastest of them all.

2) Advent Vega ROM
This is a ROM done by the XDA developer originally for the viewsonic G-tab ( which is a OEM made by malata ), the origin source is from the Advent Vega pad ( which is made by BYD apparently).  Since the Advent Vega does not have any physical button, it added the soft button ( HOME, RETURN, MENU ) to the status bar.  The good thing about this is that you do not need to use the un-luminated hardware button, but the bad thing is that you lose some screen space.  Using ADW as a luncher can hide the status bar, but that is not on all apps.
Moreover, this does not support 3G but it can easily be fixed by adding the phone.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk.
This is fairly stable on the malata partiton mapping but it seems to have some issues as reported in XDA on the G-tab partition mapping.
Speed wise is in the middle of the pack.

3)Big_Ideas ROM
Big_Ideas 's ROM first released on Dec, 14, and updated again o Dec. 22.  It's done by Xiao1u in the QQ group from China.
This is currently the fastest ROM on the Tegra 250 platform.  The score on Neocore and Gl benchmark said it all.  If you look at the benchmark result on GLbenckmark webpage, all the top rating machine run this ROM, in fact they are from the same QQ group.  This is a pure Android 2.2 ROM without any additive, give you the best compatibility and speed combination.
A new kernel just released that support CIFS, so that you can mapped a network drive and let media files play over the network.  NTFS read support also added to this kernel.  This is the first kernel, for the Tegra platform, which can do this.

2) Advent Vega ROM
a) If it weren't for the Big_Ideas ROM, this ROM would be my choice.
b) It comes with the basic HOME launcher, but with very nice open and close effect.
c) It offers a balance of performance and visual effect.
d) After installed ClockworkMOD, download the ROM here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884103
e) Then put on TF, go into recovery mode by holding Volume + and power together, then choose install zip from SD.
f) If you have a 3G version of the Zpad, just install the phone.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk back into /system/app.
g) you can install Calla Handwriting as the Chinese written input.
h) This ROM support both Traditional and Simplified Chinese.

3) Big_Ideas ROM 1222
a) You can download the ROM here http://www.ez-pad.net/android-1805-1-1.html
b) Then you can flash this patches for CIFS & NTFS support here : http://www.ez-pad.net/android-1858-1-1.html
c) After that, you can mount NTFS Volume from USB drive and/or USB storage with this command in ADB shell/or terminal
      su
      mount -o umask=000 -t ntfs /dev/block/sda1 /mnt/usbdisk
This is suggested by XDA 's Roebeet. Thanks.
d) After you do the above, Apps can play file directly from the mounted disk.
e) With CIFS support that you can play files over network, and the NTFS read support, play media files can't be easier.
f) Will suggest the ROM creator to see if this can be made automaticlly.
g) Known Bug : no sound with the earphone, sound will come out from the speakers.  There should be some problem wth the file in the system
h) Here are some screenshots and benchmark scoring.

Hybird ROM
1) It 's not really that hitech, normal user with ADB can do this.
2) First Flash the Big_Ideas 1222 ROM.
3) Download the AV B5.1 ROM from XDA.
4) Use ADB to push all the files under system/framwwork ( except the two NV .jar file) from the AV B5.1 ROM to Zpad.
   ADB devices
   ADB remount
   ADB push xxx.jar /system/framwork/
5) after you push all the files, reboot
6) then you will have AV B 5.1 's skin + 1222's core.
7) You can then flash the new kernel with NTFS, CIFS, VPN, PPPoE support.
8) Then the data2loop update.
9) So accessing banned site from China is easy
