This is some important info for how you can OC your i7, especially in Q965
with more stability but less vcore
;)

take a guess, those who know , please don't give the answer first



condition:
my cpu can't even 1.4v directly boot in windows for 4.4g
but using some software help and finally I did it 32m done nicely
(here we don't talk about tweak)


forst of all here is the first thinking about 22x200 only can do 1m and CPUZ





and honestly no way to run 32m..freeze right away

but after I done some adjustment (210x21)...and 1.37v for all air;)

Answer: (now I decide to let this out, or I will be pointed by some ugly fingers;))

Turbo tech can only apply couple multipliers
but if you using crystal cpuid, then running MSR editor
give MSR number as "0x1ad
then get RDMSR
then fill in WRMSR in  the same EDX 0x00000000, EAX as the hex of number of the multi you want
for example 0x13131313 (4x13 means 4 cores) is 19 multi..so 14141414 is 20...15151515 is 21...etc.
then press WRMSR...you're done for "changing multi on the fly
this would highly reduce the 4 cores 8 thread heat loading when you load windows
much stable than directly boot
but before you boot, you need to get in bios and enable EIST

If someone has some issue i will try to explain in 6 steps

1) set Turbo Tech and SpeedState (also known as EIST) @ enabled under BIOS
2) open Crystal app and go to MSR Editor
3) type in "MSR Number" tab --> 0x1ad
4) press "RDMSR" --> RD means Read, so this will just provide your current info about multiplier, please note the setting is in Hexadecimal value
5)
a. now, to set in "WRMSR" tab the multiplier you want to aim, you must fill in the "EDX (63-32)" exactly as it is in the RDMSR tab, this means --> 0x00000000 , always.
b. now the "EAX (31-0)" tab, you have to enter here the new multiplier setting you want to set, this is hexadecimal value, in example, you want to have 33x multi? then set like this --> 0x21212121
6) press WRMSR to apply the settings and it's done, you can check CPU-z you will see the change of multi is applied instantly



the reason for setting 4 times per number is obviously because you have to change every core multi

now below you have the hexadecimal values correspondent to "normal" , will start from multiplier 18 to 36

in the left column the multiplier number, and in the right column the hexadecimal value

18-->12
19-->13
20-->14
21-->15
22-->16
23-->17
24-->18
25-->19
26-->1A
27-->1B
28-->1C
29-->1D
30-->1E
31-->1F
32-->20
33-->21
34-->22
35-->23
36-->24


and so on

Seems with locked multi CPUs won't be able to set out-of-range values isn't it?
Will this method work on C2Qs as well?
It would be convenient if I can set the multi on-the-fly rather then reboot and hit del...

在C2q,或是C2d,multiplier string就不同了了,
也就是說在Crystal CPUID的MSR editor就會輸入不一樣的數字
但是據我所知, MSR editor不support降倍頻
所以也只有EE類的CPU有辦法
但是話說回來
C2q的all cores loaded也沒i7 來的高
i7的瞬間8 cores loaded下去..一般的cooler是壓不住的

完全了解明白.
似乎只對不鎖倍頻的i7才有點作用說
C2ex的似乎要另外再找MSR的Register sequence...
可惜小弟到現在暫未對i7的超頻產生興趣...暫未用的著 先收下了
