原先係用緊外置case 因為壞左所以換nas
裝左hdd上nas 開始用果時見到好似一定要做格式化?
有無得唔格式化? 因為隻hdd已然裝曬data

No, you must first backup all files in your HDDs then initiate the HDDs in the NAS before use. Everything in the HDDs will be erased during HDD initiation process.

我插左4隻hdd, 有一隻係空碟format同安裝系統
點知裝好曬d 野之後發現全部hdd都比人format曬
想問下有無方法救得番, 所有身家性命財產係曬入面
我好肯定揀format果時淨係揀左一隻disk
qnap個hdd 管理都見到個disk 仲未做任何setting
但係我拆左隻hdd去番window機睇比人format曬

每隻牌子既NAS，裝HDD基本上都一定會單聲你知會洗走哂所希硬碟data……

我估，你個隻有data嘅HDD， 應該係NTFS format,
Q/S nas, 所有internal hdd， 都要format晒先用得.
事到如今，如果隻hdd, 駁返去windows platform,
都read唔返d data的話, 要交比人做data recovery.

咁就真係
其實而家用左NAS, 仲更加著重backup! 除左行Raid 10, 仲有外置硬碟及上載雲端做備份！
希望你D data救得番啦

點可以唔做backup架？講到啲data咁重要就算買多幾隻HDD都要架啦，而家一隻4TB 2.5"外置HDD都唔使$1000，容量大又機身細小易收藏，4TB唔會唔夠backup吧？真係唔夠買多隻4TB都唔會好浪費地方吧？唔使$1000就買多個可個保障總好過真係出事就俾多10倍價錢都未必救得返，呢啲錢真係唔慳得架，就算有NAS我都另外買多兩隻外置HDD做兩份backup我先安心

要全部執好佢有難度, 所以我平時係用定時換storage 既方法
每隔一排買個新storage 抄d file過去, 用左咁耐都無事

Beware, sometimes UnRaid is not stable especially when you have got docker involved. Don't know if it was my problem but I eventually switched back to FreeNAS and Windows Server.
Also, you still face the HDD initiation "problem" with UnRaid. However if you have proper backup in place you should be fine.

No I didn't have much luck with the UnRaid forum.
I just remember that there's one more major issue with UnRaid which is its incredibly slow write speed......this is caused by its special RAID structure and is not going to fixed any time soon.
Freenas gives me some extra confidence with ZFS and its powerful community support.

It was like 2 years ago before I switched to Freenas.
Connection bandwidth between my NAS and my PC is 1000Mbps (around 100MBps with 20% discount to max. bandwidth). I was constantly getting only around 20-40MBps write from a 4*4TB (including 1*4TB HDD as parity drive) UnRaid array formed by WD RE 4TB drives. This Microserver is equipped with an E3-1230v2 CPU and 16GB ECC RAM.

As Plex server and SMB storage. The slow write speed of UnRaid is unbearable to me.
You may be fine if you don't write files to your server much.
