Recently bought the 431P2 (expanded to 8GB ram) as a secondary/backup NAS for home use. The Annapurna Labs AL-314 is quite responsive
ps. My primary NAS is 216+II with 8GB ram

I've bought the kingston DDR3L 8GB (KVR16LS11_8) a year ago at $320. Now it asks for $530 !

2320 + 530 = 2850
As QTS is more 大食 than DSM, upgrade to 8GB is a 'must'
ARM cpu device with the capability to upgrade memory is a very welcome feature

其實拆開隻機，睇下底板有冇SATA Chips就知道
Synology 4Bay常用ASM1061
QNAP/Asustor 4Bay常用ASM1062
marvell 係QNAP多Bay數機種會常見D
AL-314可以出4 x SATA 6Gbps / 8 x SATA 6Gbps
內建有埋10G Controller，不過要加粒chipset轉返做SFP+頭先用得
所以QNAP先會有出TS-431X2，價錢會貴TS-431P2少少

It depends on your usage. For instance, if encryption (volume or folder) is required, x31P2 would be a better choice.
Test scenario :
- upload 1TB of data to NAS
- avg file size between 1 to 3 GB
x51 (or any model running J1800)
without the support of AES-NI
cpu usage would be always reaching 99%
x31P2
with hardware encryption engine
cpu usage would be at about 2x-3x%
If multimedia is your requirement, x51 might be a better choice. However, J1800 is still a bit weak (兩頭唔到岸) in handling such area.
ps. I am using volume encryption in 431P2.

I got both 251a 2bay & 431P2 4bay (bought today)
要玩multi-media, 都係買返ts251a.
431P2，加到8GB Ram, 差唔多成3K.
要4bay, 又要multimedia, 就 TS451A,
不過， ts451a, 算係舊款鳥.
利申：買呢部431P2， 打算要嚟一野replace 3部NAS
1. D116,
2. TS251A
3. HP Gen7

web server個part, host緊幾個online shop, 返應都幾快，
無話點lag.
無打算行raid, snapshort, 因為自己見唔熟，
最多勤力d做backup.

As mentioned, I'm using 216+II and 431P2. It's now more than enough.
4-port is for sure not enough. I've a Netgear GS308 8-port Giga-switch

Right after the installation of 4.3.4 beta, the resource monitor shows ...
I've to shutdown and power up 431P2 to resolve the problem

剛剛up咗，
對上一個firmware, media index build-up,
下下都話mysqld 用得太盡memory, 停咗indexing.
（條8gb 比咗部251a用， 部431p2,現用4gb）,
如果最新個firmware都做唔到media index的話，
真係要換返條8gb 比部431p2， 部431p2,
未做qsirch index. photo,doc,movie,music, 加埋
10GB，file/folder數量，都唔知幾多/
要做index的話，係heavy task.
