some old memories just came back but still can't remember what os was run on apple ii e. is it pcdos ? i remember i need a "chinese card" in order to have chinese display. a cassette tape player to play some games. and then lotus123, wordperfect, just good old time.

Apple II DOS was used in Apple II+ and bload, brun, catalog...etc are the commands of Apple DOS. The default computer language is BASIC called Applesoft BASIC.

thank you, so i guess it is a variant of msdos, pcdos. i should have a big thick book about msdos with all intercepts and even source code of it.

Apple ][ DOS was much simpler than PCDOS. On Apple ][, if you had a Z80 card, which could run CP/M, CP/M was the predecessor of PCDOS/MSDOS.

There are totally 3 OSs can be executed in Apple IIe.
The first one is Apple DOS, which has been mentioned above.
The second one is called "ProDOS". Which is advanced version which supports hard disk.
These 2 OSs are natively supported in Apple IIe, or say, are provided by Apple. There is an alternative OS available. It is called "CP/M". However, CP/M or Z80 expansion card is required to execute this OS.
As you have an idea that Apple IIe can use MS-DOS, I think you mean this OS. Actually, MS-DOS is a kind of "copy" of CP/M as it was widely used as business microcomputer during 8-bits ego.
