之前接PC用作BACKUP, 用左好似冇2, 3年, 而家拆左佢放入去SYNOLOGY 入邊, 禽晚6點半開始FOR.... 我估今日中午先至FOR完

其實唔需要Full Format，我好多新硬碟都係Quick Format之後Copy File入去，然後再將剩餘空間Fill Zero，之後再睇S.M.A.R.T.有無出05或C5，如果無出05或C5就當隻硬碟無問題，將原硬碟上已經Copy咗嘅檔案Delete，慳返好多時間，但效果同Full Format相等。

As far as I know, DSM got no option for Quick or Full format, the only option is Format

S記換入隻新碟, 佢會有兩個選擇俾你, 一個係FORMAT同CHECK埋有無BS, 用既時間係耐的, 另一個係類似QF..

Then I will always use the first option by default (did not notice the so-called QF). I am using BTRFS and it took hours (many) to format and check my T 8TB and 6TB. Anyway, I am not in a hurry

a little bit off topic, but I found that the new seagate 2TB HDD support TRIM, maybe it is related to SMR.
My hypothesis is the SMR drive can skip track re-shingling on TRIMed sector in order to improve the overwrite performance.

I think ST2000DM006 would be the last Seagate Desktop 2TB without SMR, ST2000DM008 is single platter and 2cm in thickness, very likely it have drive managed SMR, RW speed is a little bit slower than 008, but spin-up is very quick.

其實一Delete個檔案之後20秒就會自動Fill Zero，同SSD一樣。
又或者用 defrag X: /u /v /l 行Re-TRIM，一行完剩餘空間全部變零。

Harddisk 太大，資料太多，有時都令人煩惱
