I have a Seagate 2.5" 4TB (ST4000LM024-2AN17V), a non-stop write of 3TB of data without "窒下窒下", very smooth. Suggest to quick format your hdd, then re-copy several video files (very large ones) to test it again.
I've been using that 4TB SMR for daily backup (with add/change/delete operations) for nearly 3 years. Read/write speed reduces (from 11XMB/s to 6XMB/s) as time goes by. I would perform a quick format once every 4 months to refresh the hdd to like new (11xMB/s) performance. Of course, it needs more than 24 hours to re-copy everything again (redo a full backup).
IMO, the effect of quick format is much better than those so-called disk optimisation/trim operations.

SSD Garbage Collection

I think my 4TB 2.5" SMR was the so-called "舊版". It doesn't support trim command, I suppose. And I've no idea about those "新版" SMR.
The 2nd paragraph was the actual user experience (3 years of use, no kidding).
1. Day one, read/write speed was 11x/11x MB/s
2. After months of use (with plenty of add/change/delete operations and hdd was nearly full), read/write speed reduced to 6x/6x MB/s
3. quick format the hdd, read/write speed was back to 11x/11x MB/s
4. redo full backup (more than 3TB of data)
I've performed the above steps for more than 10 times during the past 3 years.
Regarding the point "舊版SMR抄爆碟,速度回不過來", it seems it doesn't apply to my case. And the "quick format" would always resurrect the hdd.

MB/sec

Yes! As mentioned, I've been using 'quick format' to refresh the hdd for years. As my old version SMR doesn't support TRIM, 'quick format' is the only way to resolve SMR drawback.
Someone mentioned "誤導", may be someone doesn't know that 'quick format' can refresh SMR hdd

If SMR is a matter of concern, we could go for 1TB/2TB SSD (price drops gradually, it should be more affordable as time goes by). For large capacity storage, I think HDD is still the king.
