I use iphone hotspot sharing daily (since iOS 11), to share data to Apple and non-Apple products

Up to iOS12, there was an un-documented feature of "5 mins inactivity timeout". That is to say, even your device is connected to the hotspot, the connection would still be disconnected if there is no activity for 5 mins. The only way to reconnecting the hotspot is to restart hotspot on the iphone (Off then On again). Which was very troublesome!
Starting iOS13, the above feature has been removed (it seems). As such, it should work in the way as you mentioned. However the connection is still unstable from time to time, even sharing data to mini 5 (it's an Apple product!). When the connection dies, it would not reconnect by itself, we need to restart the hotspot again!

May be, but the hotspot switch would remain at the "On" position. If we want to start hotspot sharing, we need to turn it "Off" then "On" again, program bug??
Again, if hotspot sharing is important, better get an Andriod phone. For instance, my ancient Samsung S4's hotspot sharing is as stable as the TP-LINK M7350 WiFi egg. |
