Actually using linux tool is a much easier way to upgrade the firmware and do some maintainence if your wi fi support it. If not, you need a wired connection
Just use a usb drive, no need to burn any disc that you can't use later
It does not require you to use linux as an OS
Just like a dos tool in the old days to do something
Simple steps:
1. download linux software
2. download the tool
3. Run the linux software setup under windows and save the tool in the usb drive
4. boot up via usb drive
5. establish wireless or wired connection
Actually, people are talking about how to use the linux to save the ISO file on usb drive for M4/ M2p/M3 firmware update by similar means
