CHing,

U will need to do backup for your NAS!  (the NAS itself can crash (e.g. if you attacked by ransomware, your whole NAS data can be gone w/o proper protection / backup!)

E.g. What I do: I will backup to another NASs (a few NAS) (the backup NASs automatically turn on everyday, do backup and turn off (ususally, backup take only 1~2 hr most) after few hours)

Besides, I have two USB (4T & 8T) to do adhoc (usually, once a week) offline backup!

For backup to OneDrive, I think it is possible, but I understand OneDrive (free service) is a bit limited (1T?), if that is enough for your case, then go for it.  (but pls consider the data security (e.g. encrypted before upload...etc.)).

For me, I use Baidu (additionally from above) to store photos data (it cost me RMB 15/mth for 5T space).

I have my HDD (mostly family photos) failures 1x years ago, it cost me around HK$ 2000 (at that time) to recover (but not really successful), after that lesson learnt, I will invest a little bit more $ on important data backup!

Hope it help!
