You generally need at least two HDDs for a typical home desktop build
One mainly for system/programs/applications, the other for data dump/storage
For C:drive, a good 1TB HDD (enterprise grade highly suggested) should be good enough esp. if you dedicate it for system/program resources only
Don't get pressured into getting SSDs becuz it needs a whole new (or different) mindset maintaining such drive, and if your original system OS is still XP/Vista then it's NOT compatible
Regarding brand suggestion, Suckgate (Seagate), WD and HGST all have better grade HDDs
But for Suckgate, always get the enterprise ones (Constellation ES3) as standard ones have serious QC issues and high failure rates
As for WD, RE4 would be recommended
Not too sure about HGST's enterprise lineup so you're on your own |
