HK Digital TV recording/streaming scripts
This is an update of the scripts I posted before:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/h24uo7
Reasons for updating:
1. Found latest VLC from git no long works with 'vlc -' to play the stream from STDIN. As a workaround, I've modified it to 'vlc fd://0 ...'. This functions the same - to read stream input from STDIN, only different syntax being used;
2. I've recently re-installed my scripts to 64-bit Ubuntu 9.10 and found the readme.txt a bit difficult to follow. I've improved it to add actual commands to be typed in, instead of just making general descriptions.
Still the installation is a bit complicated, but once successfully installed, it is easy to use. Actually the background scripts are started automatically on machine startup. Watching TV is just by 2 clicks: first click to start a not-so-good-looking GUI window, and 2nd click is to select the button of the desired TV channel. There's good feature that you can watch different TV channels (of the same carrier frequency if you've got only one DMB-TH adapter) on different Linux/Windows PCs on your home network. |
