Any ordinary SATA HDD no larger than 4TB should work for replacing the Magic TV inter ...

Some member here has replaced such internal HDD with a 8TB capacity model and has yielded no problem whatsoever... How can you explain that?

Also, how come the MTV's HDD formatting command is such buggy?  I mean, why format the HDD under PC environment just to create a partition?  How come MTV cannot do that while formatting the HDD?

1. I have good reasons to believe 4TB and smaller drives should work.  If a user finds that 8TB also works as system HDD, good for them but this is neither officially tested nor guaranteed.  Format of USB HDD has another limit.

2. The format function actually rewrites the partition table.

Seriously though, I dun see the advantage of a 3TB capacity over a 4TB...
With such applications as MTV perhaps a 4TB would be a better choice, becuz you just don't know when you'll end up filling up the drive fast with all the recorded programs

But anyway, now that you got the Purple 3TB, the next step will be to follow the instructions for formatting and mounting it into the MTV to see if there's any problem

因隻3T 有D問題, 最後換左蒦普通版 WD 2T . 顺利使用中, sales 話 format 唔到, 可能係win 7 只support 2T. 要用其他software 先format 到,。

w7 supports >2TB HDDs if formatted in GPT
普通版 WD 2T is basically another Green POS
I think it's wrong for you to downgrade... should've stuck with another Purple but in 2TB capacity

    Hardisk 都可以响 Magic Tv format. 今次WD 3T 就电腦同magic t.v. 都 format唔到。。
