Do you know that one of the purposes of launching IPv6 is to eliminate NAT?
Hardware NAT chips are developed to compensate for throughput penalty under NATted environment. There's no NAT in IPv6 so this layer of resource consumption is gone and hardware NAT will become obsolete.
1. Eliminating throughput penalty brought by NAT
2. Allowing networked devices to communicate directly with other devices from internet (but please have your firewall setup properly)
3. Our internet will migrate to IPv6 eventually and if nobody take the initiative for such change then we are stuck.
