To be honest, router + cable-connected APs is a superior setup compared to mesh wifi network if installation environment allows.
In terms of stability -
Don't forget that all stations in a mesh network are interconnected WIRELESSLY which is subjected heavily to interference and signal blockage (if the stations are not positioned optimally) while such problem is non-existent on a router + AP setup.
In terms of bandwidth -
AC APs nowadays are all equipped with at least one gigabit port on each device which is superior to any of the mesh stations in the market at this moment.
My personal preference is to always have the network built on a reliable backbone with APs acting exactly like what their name suggests. |
