I agree to it fully. Circuit design is very important. Indeed it takes most of the cost of the product.

I don't mean that DAC chip is unimportant. It creates the signal source. Without a good signal source, you can do nothing afterwards. Good circuit design tries to process and maintain the signal as efficient as possible. But creation of signal still needs good starting point (tape -> Vinyl -> CD -> HD digital file).

I have used some DAC chips (CS, TI, ESS, AKM). New gen DACs improves a lot. The ratings of new DACs (9038, 4493, 4497) are much ahead to old DACs. Human ears can tell too.

I don't suggest to go back to old DAC chip if you play HD digital files (DSD, MQS, MQA).

just saying but dont think many chip- oriented ppl would be interested in K5pro.. , would rather get a dc01 which runs dual 4493 as a dac (even it has amp stage already)  then get a DIY balanced amp for similar $ i guess?   

then  a more interesting k7 with dual 4497 u ve mentioned and with that $, i rather spend on a 4499 even single  may be  , due to its four channel architecture. then a separated balanced amp?  personally not minding if headphone out is balanced or not.. , balanced line outs to next stage then to speakers however are wanted..

newer the better , but some ppl i know keeping older dacs to play vinyl ripped files for a more vintage sound..

Vinyl doesn't need a DAC. It is an analog signal. Sorry for the confusion.

Separated DAC pre amp and power amp is a good config., especially when power amp is a tube amp.

4499 has a complete different design. It is a current output DAC, not voltage output DAC. 4499 needs I/V conversion.

Hence 4499 products are expected much more expensive.

Old DAC with Vinyl is OK. Vinyl S/N is low.

yea. so Fiio's current K series are not that interesting afterall.     both in price points & specs..

personally --- currently prefer all in 1 for headphone listening. and pure dac + separated pre amp + powered moniters with  software to tune with dsp plugins..  , so interested in both kind of setup. :-)

4499 - yes it is different and superior in spec and design , 4497 can be skipped imo , 4493 jumps direct to 4499.. if one has budgets..

driver問題？ 無用過fiio 但有用過topping, 佢xmos driver（佢話thesycon訂制）都係好唔穩定... 問客服係廢...

唔係driver問題，係播放器問題...沒有播放器就=用不到該裝備。
PC 自帶的播放器是無法發揮該裝備，driver + 播放器應該係產品公司所提供的...
唔係個個買家都咁專業，可以講買番黎係用唔到...要自己找播放器比佢...唉~
