原生DSD file電平係低PCM6db的所以有啲機係會有補償set的
但係呢個問題要搵palle確認一下因為佢係專業

No. There is no comparison of voltage levels between DSD and PCM. Encoding methods are different (pulse frequency modulation vs pulse code modulation).

Converting DSD to PCM has a 6dB drop. It is true.

That means if the DAC is DSD->PCM-> output, there is a 6dB drop. Normalization on output is required. Example is ESS, TI.

If the DAC is direct delta sigma compliant, comparison between DSD and PCM has no meaning. It is like using two separate DACs (one for DSD, one for PCM) inside a single chip. Example is AK.

In the past, CS DAC chip works like ESS. I am not sure if it still is now.

If you find volume (loudness) difference between DSD copy and PCM copy of the same song, and your DAC is direct delta sigma compliant, the reason comes from the music source.

May be the DSD music source maker do it on purpose. Smaller average volume gives the room for bigger dynamic range (loudness 0 to loudness max.). Bigger dynamic range also gives more sound details. All you have to do is turning the output volume bigger.

It is what a mixer does.

As told before,

if you play DSD mostly, choose AK. It is delta sigma compliant (Japanese brands such as Sony).

if you play PCM mostly, choose ESS, CS, TI. They are PCM alliance members (US brands such as Qualcom).

if you don't have preference, I suggest you to choose PCM side. Most of the modern music productions are PCM. Only few Japanese music companies (e. g. Esoteric) use DSD productions.
