If you don't mind sub-standard drive interface (eg. not native SATA) then check out
a. WD Elements 1TB ~$62x
b. Seagate Expansion 1TB ~$61x

Even cheaper:
c. Iomega eGo 1TB (HFS+ format, USB2, 1394b x2) $56x

If the internal drive runs on non-native SATA (ie. with own interface soldered onto drive), in the case of drive failure (and without warranty), even if you can open up the case you'll have problem connecting the drive thru standard interface (eg. SATA)

any cheap but native sata can recommend?

I have been told any 3rd party brand external HDD (ie. not from original drive mfyer eg. WD, Seagate) may probably run on native SATA
Since those companies don't manufacture HDDs and have to source HDDs from other makers, the HDDs concerned are likely to be of standard interface (transfer mode)

One exception is Seagate Backup Plus which indeed runs on SATA and offers a choice of removable connection interfaces (USB3, optional 1394b, optional Thunderbolt)
However, this drive is a bit expensive since it also comes with additional software -- something I personally don't recommend for budget buy

Not sure about Hitachi external HDDs though, although pricing for 1T model is quite attractive

OTOH, a good 2.5" 1TB bare drive can be had for less than $600, so why not get one and choose your own USB3 enclosure?  IMHO it's always a good idea to have a DIY external HDD because you know what drive model is being used
