    又回歸上面#2的問題﹐你識唔識攪埋domain名註冊﹐DNS﹐什麼MX record......  (我都係有限公司﹐只係識這些名﹐點設定都唔識)。

這一堆網絡野你自己都未攪得掂﹐你直接同你親戚講﹐自己唔識攪好過。


N年前我在舊公司都識過﹐單是條internet線已經要有fix ip﹐否則做唔到domain﹐無domain已經做唔到mail server(除非只係做中間人角色﹐唔會直接send mail收mail啦)。
之後﹐又發現好多mail 對方都當係spam﹐才發現又要有什麼mx record。

總之﹐你自己唔識這一堆internet 知識﹐便不要攪﹐一定有排煩。
當然﹐你純粹自己學習試野﹐唔係幫人做又無妨的。


當你成功起到個mail server﹐之後更大問題係spam mail / virus mail的處理。
親戚會唔會又再一次煩你﹐叫你幫手去處理?
如果你當生意去做﹐收錢去做野﹐你都心甘命抵。但係如果無錢收﹐你自己想下啦。

spam mail/virus mail 係無止境的工作﹐人地大公司大集團有專材去處理﹐當然無問題啦。人少少﹐比錢買服務好過啦。

除非每個user 的mailbox size 大過30GB, 唔係Basic 夠用
Office 365 Exchange Online Plan 1: 50GB mailbox per user
Google G Suite Basic: 30GB mailbox per user

it is hard to ask them invest on Cloud or any IT service

If you are in IT, you should know the service is not only server itself. You have to consider the TCO.
It also includes setup mentioned above, and the backup, restore and recovery strategy and implementation. Besides, system performance, used capacity and services uptime & downtime requirements have to be considered too.

Mail server performance drops significantly when the usage capacity goes up.  So server hardware may need to upgrade, as mail housekeeping is not easy to implement in real life.

Therefore, IMHO, the cheapest solution for them is service subscription.

Oh... perhaps tell them that you are not familiar with mail server setup...it is a high risk job...:)
