Compatible devices support HEVC in hardware, including Intel 7th Generation Core processors and other modern GPUs. If you are not using a compatible device, this extension will have no effect on your Windows 10 video experience.

睇返anandtech既文章, Fall Creators Update更新後, 原先跟OS個HEVC codec會被抽走!

至於原因, anandtech覺得係因為license fee既問題, 因為W10 PC如果已有hardware支援硬解HEVC的話, W10 OS就唔洗比(或者唔洗比咁多)HEVC既license fee!

這個HEVC Video Extension應該係針對有HEVC硬解功能既W10 Devices!

    真係唔知FCU remove 左個codec?!

H.264 應該係build in la. 唔會好似以前win 7 咁要另安codec 或者安potplayer 等先睇到.

但H.265 真係難講. 好多機都無H.265 硬解. 有無codec 都唔知.
但無理由有硬解先work 到呢個codec...  我覺得可能係lic 問題抽開.
有無硬解都可以download 呢個codec

睇有兩部WIN10已經有Extension係裡面，無自己手動下載過。

第1版Win10已經要求display card DXVA支持HEVC才提供縮圖預覽和軟解碼
為什麼nvidia會為不支持HEVC硬解碼的舊卡謊報DXVA支持HEVC(實為軟解碼)? 就是因為Win10有那要求
這就要感謝nvidia為舊卡額外支付了這筆hardware license fee

會放到store可能是有人「改檔」改出HEVC軟解碼支持 即使display card不支持HEVC
dll打包放到store會被UWP沙箱和文件保護機制保護

而網路媒體擴充功能用的是ffmpeg開源解決方案 根據readme說明給5美可得源碼的備份
