Yes, if you got the antenna and SIM card slot, you need to buy the adapter if you wanted to use in PC.

It's mainly for those Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 9 and T14 Gen 2 from University offers and all 2021 Thinkpad with WWAN antennas currently.
