Connect thr docking also not direct, there are switch/bridge/PM between HDD and Controller, you may try.

In fact, Seagtool longtest was some kind surface test, if use Hdtune / Data Lifeguard for windows (WD), usually those less trouble (USB should be fine)

Did you try smartctl -t long on that disk?

Just an update...
Sent two drives back on Monday, got msg from Synnex to pick up replacements today...

Said both drives (one as second replacement already) were certified defective, but nothing else (no details whatsoever)

ST2000NM0033 is pretty troublesome.   And it's a waste of time traveling to and from local agent ...

In addition, dunno if they're going to return re-certified hdds to you

Once again, I will stay away from Seagate

Any detail SMART attribute readout of the drive? I would like to know the cause.

So updates...
Drives still show Long Generic tests failing (but Short DST and Short Generic all pass)

Got call from Synnex tech this morning to follow up, said Long Generic tests do pass when directly connected to SATA, confirms tests may fail when connected via bridge chipset

Drives got replaced simply becuz they wanted to avoid certain trouble (even though I told them explicitly to simply return drives if Long Generics tests do pass when directly connected)

So at least this is over and I can continued to backup my stuff......
