真正過到關,值得我信賴的,只有MO

Yeah, old school thought, also popular in many reputable universities overseas
Lesser-known univs only have up to Zip100 in some labs, and generally were NOT open for student casual use
My household had a taste of MO back in early 2000s but only limited to occasional backup use
Still have the drive (1.3GB drive, SCSI, also loads of NIP empty discs) but didn't test it again after 2008
Drive had no problems, but seemed to crash with Win98 in various aspects
Was backing up data on a 1.3GB disc when suddenly the operation hanged
In the end nothing on the disc could be recovered due to corrupted FS header
Meanwhile another disc (640MB?) also suffered from similar problem, but I was able to borrow someone else's USB MO drive and managed to recover all data inside
Yes I've been vouching for MOs as a reliable storage medium, but it's just lost out to the competition esp. with the modern day flash-based storage |
