as spoke, the battery is an external one, ie., it's removable. i've removed it for years. it's now a desktop pc.

I did similar thing years ago. At the time, I sent an email to Sony JP regarding how I was unsatisfied with the HK CS.  Got feedback and follow up actions ....🤨🙂

if the battery is built-in/internal, the warranty period is usually the same as the laptop.
