*Tested and found to be not working on XP Pro SP3 with ATI HD 4550 but working well on Vista and Win7.

Method to enable Avivo Video Functions for some ATI cards.

For some reasons, the Avivo Video Functions are not available in some display cards.
This may be due to the inadequate power of a display card(some low-end cards like ATI HD 4350/4550), driver issues(Avivo Video Functions were available in old drivers but are not supported in the latest one for some cards) and so on.

Say, ATI HD 4550, without any modification, cannot use edge-enhancement function on HD h.264 videos.
Even though the Vector adaptive deintelace can be selected in CCC, it is actually performing Motion adaptive deinterlace.

It is possible to enable the Avivo Video Functions by using a third-party software called DXVAChecker 32-bit version. It is supported by Vista x86 and Win7 x64 and tested to be working well with ATI HD 4550.

1.        Download the software by clicking the link above.
2.        Unzip all the files. Run DXVAChecker.exe
3.        Click on the right top box and choose “Video Acceleration Settings…”

4.        Press save to save your current setting so that you can restore everything back to default by loading the saved files.
5.        Tick “Show All Settings” to show more options.

6.        In this menu, you will see many options and some of them are related to Avivo Video Functions. You may enable a specific Avivo Video Function by putting a tick in the box and entering a suitable value.
7.        Here is a list about the relationship of options with a specific Avivo Video Funtion:
           Pulldown detection
           Color vibrance and Flesh tone correction
           Deinterlace
           Edge-enhancement and De-noise
           Dynamic Contrast
           DXVA for HD h.264 under PCI-E x1 mode

*After setting a value for CmMode_Deinterlace, the setting in CCC for deinterlace will no longer function, which means you cannot choose the deinterlacing method in CCC.

*Whether using DynamicContrast or not is merely depending on the setting in DXVAChecker.
The box of Enable dynamic contrast will have no effect after setting in DXVAChecker.

DXVA for HD h.264 under PCI-E x1 mode

Quick&Easy installation: This registry entry is supported by the latest DXVAChecker now under "Video Acceleration Settings..." when "Show All Settings" is activated.
Just tag "DisablePCIEx1LaneUVD" and set its value to "0", close the window with "OK" and reboot finally.
Since DXVA Checker 2.0.2.1 (06/28/2009) or later it works with Windows7 and Vista too.

After you have ticked the box and set the value, click OK to make the change to the system. Normally, you won't need to restart the system.

All the setting will be lost after removing/updating your ATI driver.
You are suggested to save your setting after you have got a satisfactory modification in order that you can load it directly next time.

*Setting of CmSupp are for Dual monitor mode.
Just set the same as that in CmMode if you are running in Dual monitor mode and would like to have the Avivo Video Functions working.

Please note that the above setting are not 100% guaranteed to be correct and working well under all circumstances.
Should you find any mistakes in the above passage, please feel free to contact me for amendment.
If the above software and setting are not working in your case, you may need to consult ATI about your issues for solutions.

上贴说的锐化选项无效是因为播放解码器使用了PD9，解码器换用PD8，锐化选项正常。

This is great master piece. It should become sticky instead of simply highlighting.  

N people should be inspired to explore more out of your work & share here.

I did notice

1. The last few CATs work better on Vista/Win 7 platform than XP. This is not saying ATI is leaving the old OS behind, rather, I think the new OSs are capable of exploring more video potential than the "long lasting" XP.

I noticed more issues were associated w/XP. Sadly people here seldom raise their problems while specifying the OS used.

2. In the US most people use their HTPC for watching Blu Ray/1080p videos n there are minimum issues. There are few complaints about HDTV broadcast application & most are tied w 1080i/2 series.
   
3. I also noticed there's a dividing line between 2 series & 4 series; most problems lies w/the 2 series (1080i). I saw few complaints w/the 3 series N very few on 4 series. Probably when people upgrade to new video cards they also buy new platforms which are more powerful/efficient to handle severe I/Os.  

Again sadly when poeple say there's a problem, they won't even bother to tell which card they are using (not even AGP or PCIE) . It's always a general statement - can't see xxxxx. I can't blame them, but they got to understand the simple "vague" statement doesn't help to evaluate their problem.

4. With the forthcoming 5 or 7 (rumor ??) cards & Win 7 OS, I think ATI is facing a dilemma...should they continue w/universal driver for all models or make a dividing line between 5/4 & 3/2 series or hi/low models ? Should they put an halt to old x1xxx series ?  Interesting to see.
