Latest update... Thx to Synnex intervention, "defective" unit has been replaced with NOS model (ie. older packaging w/older Microsuck logo) from original sales location
Problem solved (at least for now)... here's what went down
With mouse in current (ie. newer) packaging and logo:
1. Plug in Nano receiver, system detects new hardware but only recognises as "Nano Tranceiver v1.0"
2. Basic mouse function works, but Intellipoint driver fails to detect mouse model ie. "No Microsoft mouse detected"
3. Only newer Mouse/Keyboard Center 2.x (Win7/8) can detect mouse model and allows for button programming
With mouse in older packaging and logo:
1. Plug in Nano receiver, system detects new hardware and recognises as "Nano Tranceiver v2.0"
2. Both Intellipoint (v8.2 up to Win7) and Mouse/KB Center (Win7/8) can detect mouse model and allow for button programming
When compatible Microsuck wireless (excluding Bluetooth wireless) mouse is properly installed and detected, highlighted item should show up in these windows (shown w/Intellipoint 7.1 installed)
Otherwise, your compatible mouse will be detected only as third party generic "HID compliant mouse" and will run only on default driver, not updated Intellipoint driver
Meanwhile, actual Mac Intellipoint compatibility still under investigation
Conclusion: problem with Nano receiver on newer stock units suspected
If you need a Microsuck mouse (esp. wireless) for use on older systems (XP/Vista/7) withe Intellipoint functions, you MUST get a new old stock (NOS) unit which unfortunately is becoming VERY scarce...
And if you end up getting the wrong one, then you may have problems returning and replacing it (although, YMMV) |
