With Mid-Autumn festival holiday, I visited the owner of this Lion King and did a pre-detail inspection and quick wash.
How quick? It only took me 2 hours without washing the wheels / tires on this little Lion.
It would normally take me 4-5 hours on black paint without washing wheels / tires.
This car had been "detailed" by Sime Darby before.
Not only they are rubbish car dealer, they are also rubbish car care!!
Do not let them touch your car, EVER!
Dried wax under A-pillar :curse: :

Long stripe of wax residue. Did they just bring their rotary over the edge of hood :funk: !?

Poor paint quality and dried wax residue.

Also under the mirror pole:

Now, this is some serious overspray.
They told the owner it is beyond car detail and etched into the paint so that a repaint is needed :@

Dried Wax Residue, everywhere!

Seeing the clear coat is already dried out, sticky and became a dust magnet, I gave the car a wash using the Mitchell and King Spa which contains natural conditioning oils and anti-static agents that last.

For those who love suds, you can get whole bucket of suds, or just plain slick soapy water. It is all up to you!

The car is in serious need of claying, ultra fine polishing and protection to fully restore the gloss and slickness it deserves.
I suspect it has never been clayed for its life, and it has swirls every here and there.
The dealer did a good job at thinning down the clear coat. And with its turbo engine and black paint, this paint is crazy hot. I need to make sure the paint is properly protected and may consider a permanent coating for the owner.
Nevertheless, I chose the European way and preserve the scratches and swirls until I have time to handle them later.
Here are some photos afterwards.
Streak free glass and factory (dry?) carbon fiber roof top:

The dot under mirror is temperature sensor, not water.

Glad to see I brought back some luster and slickness to the paint. Clear coat are like skin, they need to be conditioned!

The overspray removed In 15 seconds, no agitation, no scratches.
The owner was so shocked he said I kept the factory original paint for him and not even a single scratch.

Some more photos:

It took me 9am-6pm to finish this initial inspection.
The owner took me out for a spin:

I will have to check whether these are lint or dust or what.

Full detail to be completed. |
